There are two main ways for paying for a bus in Sydney. Either with an Opal Card (Sydney travel card) or any contacless card or device.
When stood at a bus stop, you must flag down the bus you want to board by waving or sticking your arm out. Most buses have two doors - one at the front and one at the rear. Most of the time you will need to board at the front. When the next stop is yours, you will need to request to stop by pressing a STOP button in the bus.
You will need to tap on and tap off for each bus journey that you take.
